NEW BUILD 10 BED NURSING HOME

The Brief

A 10 bed Nursing Home with Day rooms on all floors, Dining Areas, a hairdressing salon and large bedrooms that could be adapted to accommodate two adults.

The Project

A site on a flood plane had previously been an industrial yard. Located close to Waltham Abbey high street, the building was designed on a raised platform and stilts, so in the even of the river flooding the water levels can safely discharge onto the site without causing any damage to the building fabric. 

The building is rectangular in plan and three storeys high and wraps around a central stairwell, atrium and lift. On the ground floor there is a kitchen, Day and Dining room. The Dining room opens up onto the rear landscape garden which is bounded by the river. Large bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms are located on the two upper floors and each has an additional Day room and one a hairdressing salon. There is a secure car-park for visitors and staff at the front of the building.

The building is much loved by both the staff and clients, and was completed on time and within budget.
